Future Projects

The P&C are committed to helping to fund projects on the school wishlist either by raising funds or through applying to relevant grants programmes. Projects can be added to the wishlist by staff or parents, in agreement with the P&C committee . Here are some of the future projects we are supporting the school in working towards.

Outdoor Learning Area & Sensory Garden

About the project

The sensory garden project has been on the school wishlist for some time; many staff and parents are keen to see this project take shape. The project is to landscape the front corner of the school, currently referred to as the ‘kindy playground’, to incorporate an outdoor classroom, activity areas, and gardens.

In addition to the learning, development and sensory benefits the area would provide to students and staff, this project would dramatically enhance the look and feel of the front of the school, showcasing the diverse and active place that HPS is. With a focus on native shrubs and plants, the gardens would add to the school environment, creating native habitats and enriching local biodiversity.

In Term 3 the P&C engaged local landscape architect firm Edible Kids Gardens, specialists in creating outdoor spaces for kids, to consult with key staff to develop a concept design.

Funding the project

Based on this concept design, the P&C recently submitted a grant application (to the Community Building Partnership Grants programme) to fund to a sizeable proportion of this project.

Vote for this project!

Funds under the Community Building Partnership Grants are apportioned per electorate. This year a total of $300,000 is available to our electorate of Summer Hill, to be allocated across several successful projects. Many not-for profit organisations have applied, with some great projects – we have some tough competition. The public are encouraged to vote for their top 3 projects in their electorate. We urge you to show your support for our project by participating in this poll, and to select the Haberfield Public School P&C project as your top choice!
